DJ Handcuffz, the southern comedian rapper who performs over trap beats, attended Draughon’s Jr. College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Radio Broadcasting. He went on to launch the online radio show Blast Off Radio Station, produce a mixtape series, host numerous entertainment events, and start the Black Gold Tour — a showcase for a wide range of artists across the county.
His influences span hip-hop and rock: Run-D.M.C., Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, TLC, 2Pac, Biggie, UGK, Three 6 Mafia, Haystak, Eminem, Hot Boys, IPC, Missy Elliott, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and rock bands dating back to the 1970s.
In fall 2016, DJ Handcuffz released his album White Boy Telling Lies, led by three comedic trap singles — “Drink Drink Smoke Smoke,” “Cheap Motels,” and “Stock Market Butter” — all produced by Aron Devon. He has since continued to grow as an artist, collaborating with producers including OG Tuka, Kereem, and Kenya, among others. Keep an eye out for his upcoming animated video release.
